Cateran Yomp 2020

Here we go again...

Over the 6th & 7th June 2020, I am taking part in The Cateran Yomp. This is a 54 mile hike over 24 hours, across rural Perthshire.  Completing the full 54 miles will earn me 'gold', with bronze or silver being awarded at 22 or 36 miles respectively.  My aim is to complete the 54 miles and I will be training for this, however, on the day anything could happen I guess.  Liz will be joining me in Scotland as my official, and much needed, 'support', keeping me replenned at the checkpoints along the route throughout the day and night.

Admittedly I do a fair amount of walking, but this is completely out of my comfort zone - the maximum distance I have walked in one go to date, is 20 miles.  I have no doubt this is going to be tough and not just on the day - participants from previous years report toenail loss for months after. Great.

Those who know me will also know that physical training has been a major part of my own recovery following medical discharge from the Army back in 2013.  Having achieved a respectable 10k PB on the Hull 10k (2019), I thought it was time for another challenge.  In for a penny and all that...

I have paid my own entrance fee and travel/accommodation for us both, so you can be assured that every penny donated will go where it's intended - raising vital funds for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity; the Army's national charity, providing a lifetime of support to soldiers, veterans and their immediate families.

Please give generously, and thank you for your support!
