Gillian's Normandy Beaches Challenge
This October I will be taking part in the Frontline Walk: The Normandy Beaches. Over 3 days I'll be trekking 100km of the coastline stormed as part of Operation Overlord during the D-Day landings of the Second World War.
I'll be doing this to commemorate the sacrifices made by those who fought in WWII whilst helping to support the soldiers and veterans of today.
I am very proud to come from a military family and to support this wonderful charity.
ABF The Soldiers' Charity, the National Charity of the British Army support soldiers, veterans and their families when they need it most.
This challenge means alot to me as I have just come out the other side of an achilles tendon rupture. It was the worst injury I have ever had, taking 12 months to recover. I was on crutches for 3 months and had to relearn how to walk again. This was very tough on me mentally and I lost all my confidence with exercise.
I am starting to find my way back to myself now and find my limits again. I am excited to take on this challenge. 100K will be so tough but I know I can do it, with the help of the positive mindset learned from my military family
Please cheer me on by making a donation towards my target, no matter how small. It all helps and will be very gratefully received. And leave a message of encouragement. £700 of the target is cost of the trip which I will pay myself so I am aiming to raise £550.
With much thanks and love, Gillian x
