The Cateran Yomp 2024

2024!

On the 8 - 9 June 2024, I am taking part in The Cateran Yomp. A 54-mile hike in 24 hours across rural Perthshire.

It’s going to be tough but it will raise vital funds for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the Army's National Charity, providing a lifetime of support to soldiers, veterans and their immediate families.

Please give generously, and thank you for your support.

My Updates

2023 - Done. Bring on 2024

The reckless snails tackled the 2023 challenge in usual chaotic style - unfortunately we had a few members retire from the gold challenge :-(. All of us had a fantastic time, despite the pain, exhaustion and eating our own body weight in jelly babies along the way :-)

For 2024 we plan to enter a larger team with individual targets for bronze, silver and gold so as to get as many people involved as possible.

We learned a lot about the work of the soldiers charity and we were humbled.  The Yomp is a challenge for one day.  The charity works all year around to help soldiers and their families overcome the challenges they face.

If you can afford to help, please do so!

I did a yomp in 1982 to reenact the yomp by our brave troops in the Falkland War. We only carried 30 lbs from start to finish. It had rained for days beforehand, and the mud was up to our knees in many places, this was in the Trossachs in Oct. So Good Luck to you all, hopefully a fair weather day.
