The Medicine Ball Challenge

One in four adults experience mental illness, and many more of us know and care for people who do. Talking openly about we feel can help.

The challenge involves cuffing a 3kg Medicine Ball to my wrist for 7 days. It may not sound that heavy but being tied to the medicine ball continuously for 7 days is a significant burden. The ball becomes a physical, visual and tangible representation of the invisible burden of mental health so many of us can experience.

The challenge raises money for the following charities. Any support you can offer will be gratefully received and split evenly between the causes.

Mountain walk 15km

Walked up Slieve Donard today the highest mountain in Northern Ireland… took me 5 hours to complete the 15km walk! Some great views and bumped into some fantastic people. I even got given £20.00 of an Irish lad on top of the mountain and met a lovely lady called Neave

Day Four, 8 km walk

Walked with my wife from Dunluce castle to Portrush down the coastal path and beach… we managed to raise over £500.00 today which I’m very thankful 🥲 to everyone who has kindly supported me and donated some much needed cash! Stay safe everyone 🙏

Day three garage session

I did a med ball workout 🏋️‍♀️ in my man cave garage gym, hard work 😓

Beach Sanger

This old Sanger is at the end of the beach at the strand….

Strand walk

Walked from the starting point (grid) of the Northwest 2000 TT at Portstewart to the Strand Beach which was 14.9 km. It was a very windy and wet walk but well worth it… a little bit uncomfortable carrying the medicine ball however it’s nothing compared to some of the stuff people can carry around in there hearts…. Anyhow into day three tomorrow

Giants Causeway visited with the med Ball

Today I walked from Bushmills to the Giants Causeway which was a total distance of 12.14 km… a very humbling experience thinking about what the medicine Ball challenge  represents.
