The Medicine Ball Challenge

My Updates

Day 6

Saturday Saturday.

Another busy day with painting the walls, trying to keep Marv clean !! I think I've lost weight on the challenge. Is a hard graft but well worth it, the donations are still coming.

One more day to go

Please think if you do want a turn register online and take the plunge.

Day 5

Coming to the end of the challenge and the end is the hardest point. But you genuinely will miss the ball, is this like Stockholm syndrome where you miss your captor haha. I have raised £260 so far, thank you everybody. My wrist is bruised but it is a small price to pay to raise funds for these two charities.

Day 4

Today Marv and I went to London and the trains were up the chute, and that in itself is stressful enough. However, having the ball and chain adding an extra layer of weight didn't help either.

We made it to London, and then while I was doing some work, 4 people on the table next to me asked me why I was strapped to a ball. Result, another conversation about Marv and Mental Health.

With that in mind we ventured to our HQ in Lewisham and people were asking questions about the ball, the handcuffs, but nobody wanted to try it on!!

All in all, it was a successful day, but you do really notice it now on Day 4.

Out in the rain

You can't run in the rain with this tied to you, too well.

Day 3

What a day! It does get more difficult the longer you do it. Everything is harder, you can't type properly, cant use laptop, wear a rucksack, or put on a jacket too easily either! The little things you take for granted. Also the frustration, and you can't run in the rain as I found out today.

This  ball is a good representation of the mental health burden. Some days are easy some aren't. But one of the main things is strapping it on to yourself first thing in the morning, you feel like why do I need to today, but if you have made a commitment then you follow through!

I had some more people asking about Marv the medicine ball today. They thought he was a motorcycle helmet! But we had a decent conversation about Mental Health.

Roll on day 4.

Day 2

I wont lie I struggled a little bit today, trying to rush around and do things is hard with Marv the ball. Try typing!! But that is the point of the challenge, it is a burden, but where as I can remove the ball, mental health is there constant. I keep Marv on all day, if you are going to do it, do it right.

I had a few conversations today, people thought the ball was a motorcycle helmet and were equally shocked I am handcuffed to it. The local bus driver gave me a look, but I walked past a lot of police officers who didn't bat an eyelid in Central London. London is a crazy place so I guess I am typical of the area.

It is a great challenge and I dont regret doing it for one moment.

Thank you to everybody who is donating, it means alot to the charities involved.

Day 1 - Commenced

Day one has commenced, I've managed to get to London and nobody except a few work colleagues have dared say hi what is that!

But donations are coming in so it is all good, have to go to a few sites today, hopefully more chats about mental health are coming.
