Dear Friends and Family
As some of you may know, I am turning 60 this year and to celebrate(?!!), I'm taking part in the Frontline Walk: The Western Front. I'll be walking 100km across 3 days, in October, following in the footsteps of those who fought on the Somme and Passchendaele battlefields during the First World War, especially one of my great uncles, Archibald Brooks, who died of his wounds in October 1917 at the Third Battle of Ypres (Passchendaele). He is buried in Ypres Reservoir Cemetery. My other great uncle, Rowland, died in 1915 at Gallipoli.
I'll be doing this to commemorate the sacrifices made by those who fought in WWI whilst helping to support the soldiers and veterans of today.
It will be a physically and emotionally tough challenge, but I'm doing it all for a great cause: ABF The Soldiers' Charity, the national charity of the British Army who supports soldiers, veterans and their families when they need it most.
