The Cateran Yomp 2024

On the 8 - 9 June 2024, I am taking part in The Cateran Yomp. A 54-mile hike in 24 hours across rural Perthshire.

It’s going to be tough but it will raise vital funds for ABF The Soldiers’ Charity, the Army's National Charity, providing a lifetime of support to soldiers, veterans and their immediate families.

22km! And tired hamstrings 🥴

22km in the legs - not a patch on the event but all mileage is good mileage!!

Ticking along

Getting some mileage in and steps counted week by week…. Need to step up the amount in the coming weeks as the weather improves but no one needs an excuse to get outside

5km is way short of what we are doing on the Yomp but it’s all decent cardio and effort in the legs

Ok so I probably should have fully appreciated the magnitude of the task before signing up but the opportunity to get involved with a great event for a great cause was too much to ignore. 
I work with a few veterans and am always surprised how much weight they still carry on their shoulders from their time in uniform - so if my dragging my sorry lump across some mountains can raise money for those who need support then it’s an easy no brainer. 
Plus I’ll no doubt learn some new lingo along the way as the only civvy on the team 🤣
