I'm participating in the Frontline Walk: The Western Front for the first time ever, alongside my friend Dave Keen!
This walk is
a 100km trek along the historic Somme and Passchendaele battlefields from the
First World War, starting in Arras, France and finishing in the Belgium city of
Ypres.
I have decided to participate in this walk for several reasons, primarily I wish to honour the individuals who fought in WWI and WWII for their sacrifices, bravery, and the freedom that we enjoy today. I hold a deep respect for those willing to give so much of themselves while asking for so little in return.
Our family business, Kentec Training, is a Kent-based health & safety
training company, and a large majority of our instructors are ex-armed
forces and combat medics (including Dave), and this walk is in large part in honour of their own
courage and selflessness. I also want to push my own boundaries and make a difference
for today’s soldiers, veterans, and families in any way I can.
