The Frontline Walk 2024: The Western Front

I'm taking part in the Frontline Walk: The Western Front along side a work colleague who has become a firm friend.

I'll be trekking 100km following in the footsteps of those who fought on the Somme and Passchendaele battlefields during the First World War

I'm doing this not only to commemorate the sacrifices made by those who fought in WWI, but also to use it as an experience to mark how far I have come since the last time I completed this feat in 2016.

Not only physically challenging the whole experience is extremely thought provoking and inspiring; as some one that studies modern history, no book can replicate the feeling of seeing the thousands of names inscribed on  the memorials; walking through the now silent fields that saw the pure evil side of human nature.

Those of you that know me, know that the past 7 years have been tough for me in many ways, but my struggles pale in to insignificance compared to those that payed the ultimate sacrifice.

The ABF The Soldiers' Charity, the National Charity of the British Army. They support soldiers, veterans and their families when they need it most.

I know that times are hard for everyone, but anything you can spare could make such a difference to a veteran or their families.

Oh and you get to think of this PT shy ex squaddie that only drives past gyms these days going through some pain! Thats got to be worth a couple of quid at least!

Many thanks all

Dave
